Terms of Service

Last updated: July 14, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Lien when you use our website and services. Lien is operated from British Columbia, Canada.

1. Who can use Lien

  • You must be at least 19 years old.
  • You must be a real person, joining for yourself, seeking genuine connection.
  • You must complete verification honestly. Impersonation, fake photos, or misrepresenting your identity is grounds for immediate removal.
  • You must not have been previously banned from Lien.

2. Community standards

Lien is a curated community, and membership is conditional on treating people well. We may suspend or remove accounts that engage in:

  • Harassment, hate speech, or threats — in the app or on a date.
  • Sexual content or solicitation, commercial promotion, or scamming.
  • Sharing another member’s private information or images without consent.
  • Using Lien while in a relationship you have not disclosed as open.
  • Automated access, scraping, or attempts to circumvent verification.

3. Your content

You own what you post. You grant Lien a limited licence to host and display your content to operate the service — for example, showing your profile to members we introduce you to. We never use your photos or messages for advertising without your explicit consent.

4. Subscriptions

Lien’s core experience is free. Optional paid tiers add convenience features and renew automatically until cancelled. Prices are shown in Canadian dollars before you pay, and you can cancel any time — access continues to the end of the paid period. Statutory refund rights are unaffected.

5. Safety, not supervision

We verify members and moderate reported behaviour, but we do not run criminal background checks and cannot guarantee anyone’s conduct. Meet in public, tell someone where you are going, and use the in-app report tools if something feels wrong. In an emergency, contact local emergency services first.

6. Termination

You may delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practicable. Deleting your account does not erase safety records we are permitted to keep to protect other members.

7. Disclaimers and liability

Lien is provided “as is.” To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under the law of British Columbia.

8. Changes and contact

If we materially change these terms, we will notify you in the app before the change takes effect. Questions? Reach us at hello@joinlien.com. These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada.
